Substitute

People/things are substituted because they have substitutability.

Substitutability is not a thing, but it is a property of things. People/things are substituted because they have substitutability. Anything which does not have substitutability cannot be substituted.

Terms of reference

  • Substitutability: the capacity of one factor (or good) to be used in the place of another, the opposite of complementarity; replaceability; exchangeability by virtue of being replaceable
